AWVH PHARMACY GUIDELINES FOR PRESCRIPTIONS REQUESTS
  • AWVH follows the same protocols as a human pharmacy when filling your pets prescriptions.  We need a MINIMUM of 24 business hours in order to fill any of your pets medications, prescriptions, flea/tick prevention, etc.  This reduces the chance of errors when preparing your pets medications.  Only trained technicians prepare medication and may not be available for walk in requests.
  • Any products (including medications and prescriptions) that leave the building​ CANNOT be returned due to FDA regulations. 
  • We will no longer be approving online/outside pharmacy prescriptions via phone, email, or fax.  It is our practice to prescribe the best medications for your pet and our responsibility to do our due diligence to be sure that the pharmacies we prescribe to have your pets best interests at heart.  Some online pharmacies stock their inventory by buying under the table from veterinarians (some from out of the country) who charge a modest markup for profit rather then direct from the manufacturer or supplier.  These medications are no longer subject to quality control measures that the product demands and they are no longer guaranteed or supported by the manufacturer.  Since there are new online pharmacies developing daily, we cannot source the quality of these properly.   Therefore, if you do not wish to purchase through our clinic, we will provide a written prescription and leave it to you to ensure the sourcing and reputation of the pharmacies that you choose.  Please allow a minimum of 72 hours after receiving your online/outside pharmacy request for your prescription to be processed.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
ONLINE PHARMACY PRESCRIPTIONS WARNINGS
  • No longer eligible for rewards program at AWVH when products are purchased online
  • Incorrect prescriptions or doses have been sent to clients, including expired products
       *Resulting in possible illness or death
  • Fraudulent products being used in some instances
       *Could cause harm to your pet
  • Incorrect/improper handling/storage of products
       *Products may not work as intended
  • Online pharmacies obtain their drugs illegally
  • Products WILL NOT be guaranteed through the manufacturer
       *IE-if a pet develops heartworm disease while on Heartgard, the company WILL pay for the treatment ONLY if purchased through a             veterinary clinic
  • Fraudulent pharmacies
       *Risk of identity/credit card theft
  • AWVH will not be held responsible for any side effects, health affects, ect by online pharmacies medications
       *Must sign online pharmacy waiver
